About the Panelists

Dr. Elysabeth Nguyen

Dr. Nguyen is a serial entrepreneur, scientist, philanthropist, and the CEO of the Our Lady of La Vang (OLLV) Foundation. She is responsible for building the OLLV Shrine at Christ Cathedral in Orange County. Dr. Nguyen is a midwestern native now residing in Southern California with her family. She has over 25 years of executive management experience and feels this documentary will change the lives of many people. As the producer of the Our Lady at the Center film concept, she is hands on with contributors and corporate partners. Dr. Nguyen strongly believes in the modern conversion to Catholicism through action. The Our Lady of La Vang apparition story truly touches her heart to the point of devotion for the Blessed Mother. She believes that the testimonies of many people can lead us to a better understanding of Mary's appearance in the Quang Tri province, Vietnam in the year 1798 and the numerous miracles that She  performed for the local villagers of Vietnam.

Fr. Tuyen Nguyen

Father Tuyen Van Nguyen was born and raised in Vietnam. He left Vietnam and came to the United States in 1982. He was ordained a priest in 1987 for the Diocese of Orange. For the past 29 years, he had been assigned as Parochial Vicar to 4 parishes before he was assigned as pastor of St. Callistus. All of his assignments are multicultural parishes where some Masses in Vietnamese are offered for Vietnamese parishioners. Father Nguyen is fluent in Vietnamese. He knows the Vietnamese customs and traditions. As pastor, he has successfully brought the Vietnamese presence into the activities of the parish. He empowers his people to own and to take leadership in the parish. He believes in people, respects their cultures, and invites them to integrate by sharing time, talents, and gifts with one another for God and for the Church. Fr. Tuyen Van Nguyen was born on April 4, 1954, in the North of Vietnam. His parents brought him to the South of Vietnam in 1954. From 1966-1980, he entered St. Phung and St. Theresa., St. Thomas Seminaries for the Diocese of Long Xuyen, Vietnam. In 1980, he tried to escape Vietnam and he was captured and put to jail for a year. In 1981, he successfully escaped Vietnam to the Philippines. On June 25, 1982, he came to Orange County, California. In September, 1984, he reentered St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo, Los Angeles. In May, 1987, Cardinal Roger Mahoney ordained him to the diaconate. On Oct. 3rd, 1987, late Bishop Norman F. McFarland ordained him to the priesthood.

Very Rev. Al Baca

Father Al Baca is a native of Southern California. Growing up in Orange County, he attended Cal State Fullerton, but before finishing, chose to enter the diocesan seminary for priesthood in the Diocese of Orange.

Father was ordained for the Diocese of Orange in 1989, serving as parochial vicar in various parishes. He received his license in Ecumenism and Inter-religion from the Angélicum in Rome. After returning to the Diocese of Orange, he served as Episcopal Vicar for Ecumenism and Inter-religion for ten years.

In 2017, Father was appointed to work for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in Washington, D.C., as the Director for Ecumenism and Inter-religion for the United States. Returning to California, he was appointed Director for Evangelization and Faith Formation for the Diocese of Orange.

As of July 1, 2022, Father Baca has been assigned to the parish of St. Anne in Seal Beach as a Senior Priest. In July of 2023, Father Baca was appointed once more as Episcopal Vicar for Ecumenism and Inter-religion for the Diocese of Orange. In 2024, Fr Baca was appointed secretary for the Pastoral Provision, assisting those former Protestant ministers throughout the United States who request priesthood in the Catholic Church.

Peter Le 

Peter Huy Le (Graceman) understands suffering. His story begins with a childhood marked by polio and a flight from war-torn Vietnam as one of the thousands of “boat people” who immigrated to America. But he says his greatest trial—and most profound joy—began in the fall of 2018 when he learned he had metastatic cancer. Huy is a husband, father, former Dominican preacher, former Harvard man and software developer, co-founder of St. Joseph Primary Care , a nonprofit organization in North Carolina, and Catholic speaker and author.

Dr. Young Hoang, 

Dr. Young Hoang, at present, is the President of the National Executive Committee of the Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Movement (VEYM) in the U.S., a branch of the Pope's Worldwide Prayer Network (PWPN). In this servant leader role, Dr. Hoang is charged with the responsibility of collaborating with leaders across the country in planning and directing programs to assist 25,000+ youth members at over 140 chapters/parishes to be good Christians and contributing members to society in union with the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Professionally, Dr. Hoang is the Senior Advisor and operational psychologist to the Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs at the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C.
